Points to Remember if your are a Credit Card user: -
Don’t use your card like ATM: - Cash advances are escorted with high interest rates (at times above 20 percent). Generally, the Card Company will ask you to pay your regular balance first and only then they will allow you to think of settling the advance balance. Any card company would want to make you pay higher interest for as long as they can.
Don’t sign for a friend's credit card: - If you do that, you will be financially responsible for their charges and the worst thing is that the result of their credit card behavior will be seen in your credit report.
Don’t cross your credit limit: - If you cross your credit limit, the company will not only charge you a fee of $35, but also the card company gets a chance to impose a higher interest rate on you.
Negotiate and ask them to reduce their interest rate: - If your credit score is more than 700, you have every right to negotiate with the company so that they give you better rate. Don’t allow them to fool you and pay 15-20% interest rate.
Don’t close your credit card account: - Your credit score is calculated looking at your "history" in making payments on your card. If you close your credit card account, you are closing doors to an important factor that is your card’s payment “history” which can lower your credit score.
